Semicircular arches

Semicircular arches, also known as Roman arches, are similar to segmented arches but cover a full 180 degrees of span.  The Semicirclulnar arch is a classic arch style whereas the segmental and Jack arch styles,  common in Capitol Hill,  came into use later.

While the semicircular arches is a great looking arch it requires a higher floor to ceiling space with what would otherwise be the same open size below the arch.

The picture below shows a beautiful Capitol Hill homes with semicircular arches and keystone.
